Hulu Plus update blocks iPad 2 video mirroring, users say

Today's update of Hulu Plus (to version 2.3) on the App Store brought with it the return of a missing feature, and the removal of another, angering iPad 2 owners. While the latest version sports the return of the "resume" button to the interface, and also features a simplified login, tabbed search results and a dedicated Criterion menu, iPad 2 owners have quickly discovered that the app now blocks HDMI mirroring, a feature still retained in v2.2....

Samsung phone sales drop 14%, profit drops 30%

Samsung saw a rare downturn in its mobile business after posting results for the winter. The Korean company's phone sales sank 14 percent year over year to 70 million devices. Most of its comfort was from its greater dependence on smartphones, which went from just four percent of Samsung's phone mix to 18 percent and helped it make about $1.34 billion in operating profit from the one group....

Tapose hopes to bring MS Courier two-pane style to iPad

Tapose (Tap-o-SAY) is a project to bring the best ideas of Microsoft's defunct but intriguing dual-screen Courier project and incorporate them into an app for the iPad (and perhaps later for Android tablets) that mimics both the Courier's free-form writing support as well as its two-pane interface. White iPhone 4 produces long lines in Beijing

The white Apple iPhone 4 made its retail debut today, and China is one market where demand is high for the long-awaited device. According to a report from Computerworld, hundreds of customers lined up outside the Apple Store in Beijing to buy the long-delayed white model.

Customers in line confirmed they passed on the black model, which launched in September 2010, and waited for the white one to make its debut. "I don't like the black color," said line-waiter Annie Zhang. "I've always been waiting for the white-colored iPhone 4."

Apple's presence in China is growing at an extraordinary rate. Apple's iPhone models account for 8.3 percent of China's smartphone market share, and sales of the iPhone in Q1 2011 grew by 250 percent year over year. The introduction of the white iPhone 4 will boost sales even higher in China, as white devices are popular there; the color white is often associated with purity and fulfillment in Chinese culture (also with funerals and mourning, but that's probably not what Apple is going for).
