1Password now available on Mac App Store

If you haven't already heard, AgileBits has unleashed their fantastic password manager 1Password upon the Mac App Store. Not only is it now available in a convenient easy-to-update form, but this new version will include new features and an easy upgrade path to 4.0. Not to mention it's also HALF off at the moment.

For those of you who have somehow missed the 1Password boat, it is a password manager that lets you set a "master password" and then stash all sorts of sensitive info behind it: website logins, credit card numbers, software serial numbers, even secure notes. One of my favorite features is password generation: I can tell it my Facebook password needs to be 16 character and super high security and boom! As if by magic, I have a highly crack-resistent password.

Thanks to the magic of browser add-ons I can fill in web forms with my credit card information or any other bit of stuff I have secreted away behind that master password. Did I mention they also have an iOS app and Dropbox syncing so all your goodies are available on all your Apple hardware? Well, there you go. (There's a Windows version too, should you need that sort of thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

If you're an existing customer, here are a few of the changes you'll want to know about in the new version: A new menubar icon for easy access from any application, full-screen support and 64-bit support. This new version requires Lion, so be sure you're all upgraded before you pull the trigger.

We here at TUAW rather like 1Password, since it's a straightforward app that does what it does very well. If you haven't yet moved to some sort of password solution, this is a great opportunity to do so. Congratulations to AgileBits on getting to show off all the hard work they've been doing lately!

Radio Shack may be set to sell iPhones through Verizon beginning next week, however the retailer appears to be set to distribute the iPhone 4 rather than the next-generation model. Another victory for Apple as German Galaxy injunction upheld

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be a rare sight in Germany for at least two more months, and probably a lot longer, thanks to a ruling on Friday by the court trying the patent infringement case between Apple and the Korean firm in that country.

10.7: How to get a full Lion install disc for a new MacBook Air or Pro

I've found a way to get a full Lion installer by capturing the installer files that the recovery partition downloads. This seems to work on my 2008 MBP machine with the App Store version of Lion installed on it, but it should be of particular interest to users of the new MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros which don't come with an install disk, but can't install the App Store version of Lion. By following this hint, it should be possible to get a full Lion install disk for those machines that won't require network access to install.

To avoid messing up your one and only good Lion installation, I recommend getting an external drive big enough to install Lion on. An external hard drive or separate partition is great. A large USB flash drive might work, but I haven't tried it.

As we all know, the Recovery HD lets you reinstall Lion by downloading it from Apple's servers. Unfortunately, it deletes itself after installation, so it doesn't give you a chance to make a boot dis ...

10.7: Change iCal font size

I was thinking Command+ or Command- might zoom in or out like Safari or Mail but found the it behaves differently in iCal.

In iCal Command + or - changes the font size on displayed calendars.

[crarko adds: This is new in iCal 5. It's shown in the iCal View menu as 'Make Text Bigger' (or Smaller).]
