MacOSXHints Contest June Featured Hint Category The featured category for June is 'Working with Windows,' including (but not limited to) Bootcamp, VM's like Parallels and VMWare, and other cross-platform and interoperability hints. It's a pretty open category, and I'll look at a variety of submissions for it.

Please refer to the original post about the MacOSXHints Monthly Hint contest for further details.

Following are the winners from the March contest. I only had responses from two qualifying submitters (out of the six I attempted to contact) and here they are:

NYPost: Apple paying major music labels up to $150 million for rights to music on iCloud

The New York Post is reporting that three separate sources have told them Apple is paying the big four music labels between $100-150 million for the rights to distribute their music through the new iCloud service, which is set to debut on Monday. Their sources say that each label will get between $25-50 million depending on the number of tracks iTunes users are storing.

On Tuesday, Apple issued a press release stating that Steve Jobs will unveil the iCloud service on June 6. iCloud is widely expected to be a cloud-based digital locker that allows users to stream any music they own to any device they own. Apple has been aggressively working on deals with the major music labels for a while now, first getting Warner, then EMI and Sony to get on board. The last holdout, Universal, is rumored to have signed with Apple late last week. With up to a $50 million signing bonus, any cash-strapped music label would be crazy not to accept Apple's offer.

iTunes Leaks 'Automatic Download' Over-the-Air Updates in iOS 5 [Updated]

In the days leading to WWDC, Apple's iTunes seems to have leaked a new feature that must be coming in iOS 5. A MacRumors reader discovered (and we verified) that when asking iTunes to check your app library for updates, iTunes' update page reveals a new feature for iOS devices. (Thanks Marcelo) The following line has been added to the My App Updates screen:
Or if your device has Automatic Download enabled for apps, your updates will download to your device without having to sync.
Such a setting doesn't exist in iOS at present, which suggests that you will be able to automatically get app updates to your device. Presently, users must either sync or download the updates themselves manually through the App Store app.

It also suggests that there is an Automatic Download setting for other items besides apps. Apple has been rumored to be making a push into over-the-air updates as well as some sort of wireless syncing. Rumors of AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule updates have also hinted at such a feature.

WWDC kicks off on Monday with a keynote from Steve Jobs who will detail Mac OS X Lion, iOS 5 and iCloud.

Update: Apple has deactivated the Updates page in iTunes for now due to the slip up.
